Autumn in the Air

Crisp cool air, crunchy leaves, and the golden tones of autumn mix together in an intoxicating tonic. I find myself dashing about like a squirrel trying to fit in as much outdoors as I can before the weather changes…gotta pile up those “nuts” before the snow flies. Reflection hits me too…deepening my mood and casting a shimmery light inward. I love this time of year!!!

Commissioned Carving

My chisels lie sharpened and wait.  After being detained in customs, three 2000 pound mesquite logs made it onto a truck in Texas and will arrive soon for my next commission. The commission was inspired by the “Reliquary” series…a personal favorite. I plan to document the project on my blog and through video with special behind-the-scene "episodes" for members of the Patron Place.

Soulful Summits

Every summit infuses me with energy. The particular mountain, terrain, weather, companions, timing, psyche, critters, and current events create a combination of energy unique to each summit. Recently I had the honor to accompany a dear young friend as she summited Livingston Peak with her new breast just two weeks after undergoing a mastectomy. Her good humor, determination, fitness, bright outlook and acceptance are especially inspirational. Surrounded by sky, summits touch places within me larger than all of…it. Moments of creativity are like summits…infused with energy and driven by the desire to touch places within you larger than all of it. What a journey.
