Wildflowers and Animal Babies
_________________________________________
I just love springtime in the Rockies! Mother Nature is fickle and keeps us guessing in the mountains. Her mood flippantly changes between sun, snow, rain, hail, dramatic thunderstorms, blue skies, engorged rivers and super green lush land. A few days ago we were pushing 90 degree weather and now it is a goose-bumpy 34 degrees with three inches of fresh snow. Animal babies are one of my favorite parts of spring. Recently a moose momma and her baby rambled through my yard. Moose babies get the “geek award
” and this little bugger was no exception. Big ears, loose lips, long legs and a skinny little butt combine comically in a curious little critter who kept trying to figure me out and keep up with mom (multi-tasking is not a talent the young’un demonstrated). Then, a few days later while mountain biking, I saw fresh bear cub tracks between big bear tracks in the muddy trail. Bear cubs are another favorite but I can’t resist the quirky calves, the curious colts, the downy ducklings...or any animal baby for that matter. The air is rich with the smell of spring...invigorating and inspiring! Life has been as colorful as the forest around me, as dramatic as the big sky viewed from my cabin, and as scrumptious as the delicious spring air. Read on if you would like to know more…

Edition of 36
$2100
Inspired by the froggy and flowery season, this lovely bronze titled "Spring" was originally priced at $600 and has increased in value as the popular edition is almost sold out. Honestly my favorite sculpture in the "vessel" series

Sharing candid tales from a life of art making, my performances during the past few months wove humor with raw honesty to take the audience on an entertaining journey into life on the edge and in the trenches. The process of creation has bright and shiny moments along with the dark and bumpy places. My desire is to spark inspiration, cultivate passion, and leave the audience with soulful thoughts like tasty snacks worth munching on later. Last month, chairs had to be borrowed from the business next door to accommodate the overwhelming turnout for my performance at Elle’s Belles in Bozeman. Stay tuned for future dates.

Fonda Deans of Eagle River Alaska selected “Shasta” for her prize. The first 25 people to become Patron Place members were included in a drawing for a free original work on paper. Names were placed in my beautiful crystal singing bowl and a winner was drawn.

Tweet? Blog? Facebook? Initially I scrunched up my nose at the cultural phenomenon of social media. Alas…I get it and I am doing it. My attraction to social media has more to do with my belief in the importance of story. Whether you “tweet,” "facebook" or “blog” each is simply a tool for storytelling and a way to connect with and grow my relationship with you. My goal is to captivate, motivate, inspire, share art and tickle your funny bone. Join me on my BLOG
and TWITTER and FACEBOOK
...will be good to "see" you!

Livingston has an exceptional animal shelter. Each year they host the "Fur Ball" to raise money and each year I donate art for their auction. Jon Ellen Snyder wrote about the two Works on Paper I donated,
"They were both BIG hits! Thank you so much!!! You helped us raise lots of money for the Shelter and we appreciate your generosity VERY VERY MUCH!!!" I am always glad when my artwork is "adopted" into loving homes...but especially glad when the art helps a good cause. My own dog Zaydee came from a shelter after being rescued from a horrific abuse situation. Visit my
blog to see the artworks and more stories and photos about Zaydee.

"Forbes" -original Work on Paper
Doesn't this distinguished rooster look like he is posing for his corporate portrait?
More than fifty original Works on Paper have found homes since the new website launched in February. Painterly and playful, the sweet little artworks are fun to create and exceptionally affordable (only $60.00 each). Once framed, the original artworks have fetched as much as $500 at art auctions. Each week I add new ones to the website in the Works on Paper section of the portfolio.
Patron Members get to view and purchase new works before they are published on the web.
Hope to "see" you on the web

Snow remains in the peaks of Montana but the ice has melted. My ice axes are tucked away in the gear closet. I have begun to toughen up my hands on rock. I find many similarities between the mix of fear and elation I experience while climbing and the emotions felt while creating in the studio. Follow me on the web to find out more about adventures inside and outside the studio.
